LLB (Hons) Law

Overview

The LLB (Bachelor of Laws) programme provides a strong starting point for anyone aiming to build a career in the legal field. It develops essential legal knowledge and practical skills, preparing graduates to pursue professional training such as the Bar course for those aspiring to become barristers. It also supports those intending to qualify as solicitors by laying the academic foundation required for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).

This degree covers the core areas of law commonly referred to as the Foundations of Legal Knowledge, including constitutional and administrative law, human rights, European Union law, criminal law, contract law, tort law, property law, and equity and trusts. Alongside these subjects, students are introduced to key legal skills, gain an understanding of the English and European legal systems, and receive training in legal research and analysis.

The programme also prepares students for the SQE by introducing key areas of legal practice such as business law, property law, criminal litigation, wills and probate, and dispute resolution in both contract and tort contexts.

Assesments

CourseWork & Submissions

The programme is made up of given modules, each requiring the completion of a case study–based assignment in line with the specific brief provided on the UOW Canvas platform.

For every module, students must complete a case study assignment as outlined in the official brief available on Canvas. All work should strictly follow the given instructions, structure, and assessment criteria. Module handbooks, assignment briefs, and sample work are accessible on the University of Wolverhampton Canvas platform and should be used as essential resources to understand academic expectations and formatting guidelines.

ASSESSMENT & RESULTS

  • Assessment results are typically issued within 4-5 weeks after grading has been completed. This timeline includes internal marking, moderation, and final approval by the Examination Board.
  • A module is considered passed if the overall mark is 40% or higher. If the mark falls below 40%, students will be given an opportunity to resubmit their work.
  • For resubmission, students are required to include an additional document of approximately 1,000 words outlining the revisions and improvements made. This explanation must be submitted along with the updated assignment.
  • If the resubmitted work does not meet the required standard, the student will need to pay a fee of GBP 80 per module to retake it. Failure to pass the retaken module may lead to removal from the programme.
